Supporting the site

When we created The Semi-Adventurous Traveller, we decided to use a completely different model from our site on photography, www.rogerandfrances.com, which is part free and part paid for. This one is all free, but it is not supported by advertising. Instead, we rely on voluntary contributions.

We don't expect many at first, but as the site grows in size and usefulness, we hope you will send us a few dollars every now and then. Not on a regular basis, or as a subscription, but simply because you reckon you've had $10 worth of value out of the site. In fact, you might want to send us 5-10% of the money you reckon our advice has saved you at the end of a trip; if you end up spending more as a result of our advice, we will not entertain claims...

Given that we changed Motorcycle Touring in Europe from pay-per-view to free, and updated it, and incorporated much of it in the new site, at the same time we introduced The Semi-Adventurous Traveller, motorcyclists in particular may feel like bunging us some money from time to time. Roger shot this just to illustrate this little begging letter. His father said that his parents (Roger's grandparents) had had something very similar, and then when he and Roger's mother were first married in the late 1940s, they had one too. We aren't quite that poor -- as you can tell from the site -- but we have to live fairly simply in order to fund the travel and the photography. The currency is pre-decimalization English, except the East India Company eight-anna piece beside Travel.
